January 1st, 2010An example horoscopeOne of my acquaintances Saturn is debilitated in 10th house. It is not getting neechabhanga as it is combust. Moon, although in Taurus, is at the fag end of the rashi and the individual is not likely to see the effects of Moon’s exaltation. Sun is exalted. To get over his problems, what gemstone should be suggested to him? Should he rather wear a stone for Moon to bring a necessary strength to his Lagna lord? Or, should he further wear a stone to fortify the position of Sun to take care of both 2nd and 10th house. In my opinion, a pearl is more important. Sun is anyway powerful being close it its highest point of exaltation. It is always more important to strengthen the foundation of the building. In any case, it will be important for this individual to pray to Hanuman to ward off the bad effects of Shani in the 10th house. January 1st, 2010Exaltation, Debilitation and Moola-trikona ChartA very happy new year 2010 to all the readers. May it bring all the happiness and prosperity in the world to you. Another calendar year has passed and I must be getting old. Last week, while looking at a chart, I could not, for example, remember the exaltation sign of certain planets. Therefore, as the first article of 2010, I decided to post this table as a ready reference. It is more for my benefit and less for yours. Please allow me so much liberty.
October 9th, 2009Stories around AstrologyAll of you must have gone through 100s of comments on astrology posts here by Basab. Here is one more example of how clear a thinker he is. He has a blog on Sulekha that I read whenever he posts a new story and I would like to share with readers of this site. Thanks Basab bhai, an absolute pleasure this is… August 20th, 2009Sanatana DharmaNewsweek reported this article - We Are All Hindus Now written by Lisa Miller. This may come as a surprise to many and give a talking point to the ignoramus lot of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, but believe me, this is nothing new. Any person who has read the Vedas will shrug it off saying “big deal”. The term “Hindu” was given to the folks living on the other side of river Indus by Arabs just few hundred years back, whereas the real religion is at least six to seven thousand years old. As I have mentioned in the description of my site on Vedic Astrology, there is no concept of “religion” in Vedas. It essentially is a way of life for millions of Indians. The word that comes closest in translation for religion is dharma, which is also the word for “principles”. The real religion is Sanatana Dharma, which means “all encompassing religion”. Even Wikipedia is wrong here where it says that Hinduism is often referred to as Sanatana Dharma… The truth is actually the other way around - Sanatana Dharma is often referred to as Hinduism. A person who follows any religion essentially is a follower of Sanatana Dharma. By extension, a Christian is a Hindu, a Buddhist is a Hindu, and so on. An American like Lisa Miller has just realized this age old truth. She, in my humble opinion, is a born again Hindu. |
