Saturn Retrograde in Scorpio March 2015

By Kshitij Sharma, February 11, 2015

Saturn becomes retrograde on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 20:10 IST and subsequently becomes direct on Sunday, August 02, 2015 at 11:10 IST for a horoscope generated for Bangalore. This will need to be adjusted appropriately. For example, for New York City, USA, Saturn becomes retrograde on Saturday on Saturday, March 14, 2015 10:40 EST and subsequently becomes direct on becomes direct on Sunday, August 02, 2015 at 01:40 EST. This is a period of 140 days, about three and a half months in which Saturn will be vakri, i.e., will be seen going back in the sky with respect to its previous position. Saturn is 10°52′ in Scorpio on March 14th. On August 02, when it becomes direct again, the position of Saturn would be 4°20′ in Scorpio.

The retrogression of Saturn will affect all rashis as per this article published last year on Saturn transit. The details in that article are still valid and relevant. The retrogression of Saturn adds a twist to the results. Saturn is a slow moving planet and is known to cause delays. Even the good effects that are bestowed upon by a good transit come slowly and steadily. In Vedic astrology, retrogression makes a person strong and referred to as ‘Cheshtabal’.

Jupiter Retrograde Dec 2014 to April 2015

By Kshitij Sharma, November 7, 2014

Jupiter is currently transiting its exaltation sign of Cancer. It is currently in forward direction although the speed is coming down. Now, it is time for Jupiter to come to a halt and start moving back in the same sign. Jupiter becomes Retrograde on Tuesday, December 09, 2014 at approximately 02:00 hours. At this time, the Jupiter is at Cancer 28°5’. Jupiter becomes direct on Wednesday, April 08, 2015  at about 22:30 hours, when the degrees are Cancer 18°5’. The total duration of retrogression is close to 4 months.

Jupiter is exalted in Cancer. During retrogression, it will behave opposite of what it stands for. Jupiter denotes expansiveness and exuberance. Therefore, during this period, expansion will stop. However, since the placement of Jupiter is overall a good one, this will result in good opportunities coming out of this when the retrogression finally ends. This is a contrarian approach and in a sense would work like Viparita raja yoga.

Saturn Combust in Scorpio

By Kshitij Sharma, October 27, 2014

As explained in this other article on Saturn’s transit, Saturn crosses over to Scorpio in the first week of November 2014. At the same time, since Sun would be closer to moving to Scorpio on Nov 17/18, the overall differences in degrees of these two astronomical bodies is not that much. Going by degrees of separation, Saturn comes very close to Saturn from Nov 1st onwards. However, at this time, Sun itself is in Libra while Saturn is in Scorpio. Therefore, by one more acceptable logic, combustion is in affect from Nov 1st onwards. By other more logic, combustion will not take effect till 17th Nov when Sun also enters Scorpio. Sun then moves forward and the combustion then ends on Dec 5th. These calculations take a 7° of separation on either side and hence the dates between this site and other panchanga softwares will be a little different.

Saturn’s Transit to Scorpio: November 2014

By Kshitij Sharma, October 2, 2014

Saturn’s transit to Libra is coming to an end. On Nov 4th 2014, Saturn will move from airy sign of Libra to watery sign of Scorpio. It will remain in Vishakha nakshatra and move from 3rd pada to 4th pada of Vishakha. It will remain in Scorpio for a period of approximately three years and will move to Sagittarius in October 2017. It will be a longer than average transit. Scorpio belongs to Mars, who Saturn considers an enemy. Hence Saturn will be en enemy rashi from November.

Libra was exaltation sign of Saturn. A happy, exalted Saturn is a preserver. It indicates perseverance, determination and as Saturn indicates masses, an exalted Saturn indicates that people are exercising their power and democracy is going well. Saturn exaltation in Libra in the first house was used by astrologers to fix up the time of Shri Narendra Modi’s oath taking ceremony.
