Message from Mrs. Gayatri Devi Vasudev:

******

You will be glad to learn that I have just launched THE NEW ASTROLOGICAL MAGAZINE, a monthly devoted to Jyotisha or astrology and other aspects of India’s rich intellectual heritage. The March 2009 issue which is now on the stands is the inaugural issue. THE NEW ASTROLOGICAL MAGAZINE seeks to uphold the highest traditions in astrological journalism pioneered by my late father Dr. B. V. Raman.

The inaugural issue of THE NEW ASTROLOGICAL MAGAZINE will be the March 2009 issue to be on the stands by mid-February and will be the “Dr.  B.V. Raman Memorial issue”  dedicated to the Father of Modern Astrology Dr. B.V. Raman. It will carry world predictions for the lunar year Virodhi (March 2009 to March 2010) apart from scholarly papers by well-known names in the field in addition to annual and monthly forecasts for the 12 Zodiacal signs.

THE NEW ASTROLOGICAL MAGAZINE will provide a platform for discussion and exchange of ideas as well as for research papers on different aspects of astrology — Phalita (natal predictive astrology), Samhita (mundane astrology) and Ganita (Indian astronomy) — as well as related areas of study. Our aim in bringing out this magazine is to continue Dr. B.V. Raman’s efforts to revive and rejuvenate the study of astrology as an academic subject. It will also strive to create respect for this ancient science for its rational and logical methods amongst the younger generation and dispel wrong notions on it in an effort to enthuse them to take to a diligent study of the subject.

It is our sincere wish that you associate with us in our work by joining our list of subscribers. I am attaching the subscription details for you to share with your friends.

Here in New Delhi, your magazine comes erratically.
We have not been able to get July or August issues.

Is the magazine being published regularly ?

Anguish was natural at the turn of events. Thanks to Almighty, it did not last more. My greetings to you for letting the magazine reappear. Some of your readers seem to be not in tune with the subject of vastu. Naturally when an author appears to have little regard for decorum or maryada. This arises out of ego. Prarabdha prevails. There is occasion now in your magazine to heed the truth of vastu bereft of overemphasis and contempt. I began this subject from my revered mother decades ago. She departed at the age of 89 in 1997. I am now 80. I have pursued the pragmatic aspect as distinguished from the classical calculations. If it suits your discretion, you can put queries to judge my level. If the Almighty ordains, the answers may be found satisfactor

I understand that the name of the magazine may be changed. If so, you may kindly consider the choice in favour of The Indian Astrological Magazine.

I am not interested to see my name in print.

Madam,

Namaste. My Subs No 4775.

I did Not Receive the August Months Magazine, but I have received the September Months Magazine with a New NAME - MODERN ASTROLOGY.

I FELT THE NEW NAME IS NOT THAT MUCH APPROPRIATE.

WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY FROM THE PRINCIPLES LAID BY OUR ANCESTORS AND THE WORD MODERN MAY NOT GIVE A VIBRANT MEANING AS SUCH.
THE INDIAN ASTROLOGY IS RELATIVE TERM ALONG WITH THE HERITAGE SINCE FROM YUGAS AND YOU ARE PRECEPTING IT WITH RELATION TO THE PRESENT DAY WORLD BASING ON THE AGE OLD PRINCIPLES THAT ARE MORE INDIAN (ARSHEYA) WHICH IS NOT HAVING THE INFLUENCE OF THE OTHER SIDE. IT IS MY OPINION ONLY, PLEASE DO NOT THING OTHERWISE, IF, SUPPOSE , STILL YOU ARE HAVING A SECOND THOUGHT, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK ONCE AGAIN FOR NAMING THE MAGAZINE AND YOU PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING ALSO.

BE SPECIAL, ORIGINAL AND DO NOT INTERPRET THE EARLIER ONE : VARIOUS NAMES YOU CAN CONFIGURE WITH SANSKRIT DHATUS.
EG : BHASKARA RASHMI,
JYOTISHYA DARSHINI,
BHARATEEYA JYOTHISHYA DARPANA,
GAYATRI JYOTISHYA KUSUMA,
SRI RAJESHWARI JYOTHI SINDU,
(RAMAN - RAJESHWARI) BANGALORE JYOTISHYA SAGARA BINDU etc.,

THE OTHER REGULAR FEATURES OF THE MAGAZINE MAY PLEASE BE CARRIED OUT. INTODUCING A NEW FEATURE REGARDING JYOTISHYA LESSONS IS WELCOME AND MANY NEW SUBSCRIBERS WILL GET GOOD KNOWLEDGE.

with regards

Achyuthkumar

My revered mother was an avid reader of AM. We were buying the issues since about early fifties. She had no guru, except the books she had collected. She had earned appreciation from Pt Rajmohan Upadhyay, the then Hd of Astrology Dept, BHU, Varanasi and from Prabhashankar Ogharbhai Sompura, the renowned Shilpashastri of Gujrat. I was not blessed with the same degree of insight in the subject and could pick up only the rudiments but was indeed fascinated by her drawing of houseplans and Numerology that has kept me engrossed in the subjects as a social service. She left us in 1997 at the age of 89. Some time thereafter I got the privilege to be in close contact with Shri S K Kapoor, “Dhruv”. By now at the age of 81 I have with me a modest bulk of notes on Vastu that may serve as a useful guide. If there lies any bit of pertinence in my submission, I should feel grateful for some guidance to move ahead.
