Mercury and creativity

Apologies for not being able to write any new posts for a long time. A combination of personal and professional issues did not allow me to work on the site other than performing routine maintenance. I have been going through all the comments though and this one caught my attention where the person is concerned if Mercury would affect married life in a negative way.

This is a fairly generic statement and should be understood as such. The simple answer is unless Mercury is itself afflicted (because is it most mutable planet and assumes nature of planets associated with it) and is afflicting 7th house as a cruel, malefic planet, there should not be any problems with respect to marriage.

I have also read in one of the astrology books that Mercury has absolutely no effect whatsoever, either positive or negative, on capacity to have children. Mercury governs creativity of thought. What gets created with this ability is books, literature and other forms of communication that can transcend time and affect people for generations to come. Hence this planet should not be seen in a bad light.

Please let me know if this argument makes sense.

To Ishan I would like to say that strengthening mercury would help definitely help you in your problems. Please have faith. The results may not be visible immediately but situation will improve in a longer run.

Dear Kshitijji…Namaskaar…

If Mercury in 7th House of a Horoscope, Shastra says :

In a male horoscope, mercury in the 7th house proves highly beneficial for others for whom the native wishes well. in a female horoscope it produces good result. The pen of the native wields more power then the sword. The sister of the native’s wife will prove highly helpful in every matter. If a Moon is placed in the 1st house, overseas journey will be advantageous. Saturn in the 3rd house will make the wife’s family very rich.

Remedies

1. Avoid any business in partnership.
2. Avoid speculation.
3. Do not keep relationship with sister in law of
spoilt character.

Krishna-ji:

Continuing with Mr. Puneet’s chart, here are some of my observations.

Venus who is Kalatrakaraka is extraordinarily powerful by (a) exaltation (b) retrogression (c) vargottama. He is afflicted by the nodal axis as Ketu is on the 2nd degree of Aries, and Venus himself is on the last degree of Pisces; not more than 2 degrees. He is in a papakartari yoga as he is hemmed between Mars (lord of 2nd, let us ignore his 9th lordship for the moment) and Ketu-Moon.

Rahu, while in Libra, is in Mars’s star while Mars is in Rahu’s star. Mars as 2nd lord and 9th lord is in the 12th, in an inimical sign. Virgo, the kalatrabhava in this chart is subject to many malefic influences (Mars, Saturn, Sun, Mercury) and just Jupiter’s influence which is actually a saving grace. I have considered Mercury a malefic based on his overall associations in rasi and navamsa. Mercury gets cancellation of debility as Venus is exalted in a kendra but becomes a mild malefic as he gets kendradhipatya dosha. His association with Mars and Saturn with the Moon in the navamsa chart is not welcome. This disposition of Mercury, lord of Virgo, weakens the 7th house considerably. From Moon sign, 7th lord Venus is hidden in the 12th, as becomes more malefic as he owns the 2nd and 7th. Mars gets 8th lordship. In the navamsa chart, 6th lord Sun in the 7th is a sure-fire destroyer of marital bliss. Add to it the aspect of Saturn who is associated with incendiary Mars. Rahu-Ketu get vargottama and Rahu especially afflicts the 8th.

In navamsa, the Moon is not favorably placed in association though he is in a friendly though quadruped sign. Retrograde Saturn’s aspect on Moon in the rasi chart, also in a fire sign, in the Sun’s star, is to be noted. Afflictions to the moon is never a good sign when viewed from the standpoint of marriage. Introspection into one’s own temper and temperament will be a worthy first step.

Anand-ji:

Thank you for the more detailed and informative analysis.

My reasoning for considering Mercury a benefic by lordship of 4th and 7th houses is as follows. Mercury when alone or with natural benefics becomes a natural benefic and when he is with natural malefics becomes a natural malefic himself. In this particular case, Mercury is with Sun, a natural malefic and Venus, a natural benefic but is closer to Sun. Therefore, I considered Mercury to be a natural malefic and since a natural malefic who owns kendras becomes a benefic by lordship, I considered him to be a benefic.

Venkatesh:

Your first post indicates that you have no astrological knowledge yourself and that you are merely stating what an astrologer has told you about your chart. In your second post, you have some nerve to suggest to Rohit what he should do in terms of remedial measures. Of course, making a blanket statement that Shani in the first house makes a person damn (sic) lucky is preposterous. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Kindly desist from posting such rubbish. Just ask for your prediction and take a hike.

Venkatesh, you probably have Rahu in the 2nd house and/or Saturn in the 5th.

Forgot to mention this, in Puneet’s chart Venus the significator of relationship is in Pisces a dual sign in Navamsha so that’s another connection that indicates 2nd marriage for him.

Hi,

My DOB is 30th April 1972, 4:25 am Madras.

I have a mercury(Debliated in Pisces, in the 1st house and is the lord of the 7th house virgo (same as Puneet). I was engaged in 2006 and was called-off due to in-comaptibility. Venus is in 3rd house (Taurus) along with Saturn and Mars. Jupiter is in Sagitaruus (own house) the 10th house.

I am currently undegoing Mercury Mahadassa, it will end in March 2010.

Do I stand a chance for marriage before Mercury Mahadasa, i.e Mar 2010?

hi everyone, must say am finding all your discussion pretty interesting and informative. I am an astrology enthusiast as well and am trying to learn more about it all. This discussion is about Mercury in 7th house and how it affects married life. This is applicable in my case. Even I have Mercury in my 7th house ( Scorpio)along with ketu and venus. It is the lord of my second and fifth house from the lagna which i guess means that I will be having a love marriage. In what way will the presence of mercury in the 7th house affect the future married life? I had always felt mercury in most cases is a benefic planet but obviously there are many other considerations before reaching a conclusion. Another string that I would like to pull at is that of divorces. There are hundreds of articles about getting married, Love marrage, happiness after marriage, but i happened to come across very few on divorces and what combinations of planets lead to it. I know it is an unpleasant subject, but something that is increasingly happening around us all. I would really appreciate if you could start a converstaion reagrding this so that we can all learn.
Thanks Again,
d

In regard to this posting: I learnt from My nadi reading that if a person to engage in business in his chart, the Mercury should be either on 5 or 10th house from lagna in rasi chart. For me the Mercury is in 5th from lagna, and I am currently into business as told in nadi. My friend’s sister has Mercury in 10th house from lagna, she is also into business. any comment, Welcome!
