Adoption (Dattak-putra yogas)

By Kshitij Sharma, February 9, 2009

The combinations for predicting adoption of a child by a couple are based on looking at the weakness of putrakaraka elements in the chart. The logic is simple – if there are no natural issues, adoption is the next possibility. The yogas therefore are more or less along the lines of malefic aspect on 5th (and 9th) lords/houses (thus denying children) and also on the 7th house (denying ability to procreate).

  1. Effect of Saturn and Mars on 5th house either by occupation or aspect afflicts the house of children.
  2. Lord of 5th house in barren signs, i.e. those signs belonging to Saturn and Mercury.
  3. Barren signs, i.e., Gemini, Virgo, Capricorn or Aquarius in 5th house in a horoscope. This means that people with lagnas – Aquarius, Taurus, Virgo, Libra are more likely to adopt than others.
  4. Affliction of 7th house indicates inability to procreate.
  5. Association of lord of lagna with Mercury may also indicate inability to procreate.
  6. Since a person will have a child to call his own after adoption, influence of a benefic on the 5th house or its lord is a must.

If this benefic influencing the 5th house is Jupiter, which is the naisargik putrakaraka, the influence almost guarantees birth of children as seen from various Parashari yogas. Therefore, it can mean that it is not Jupiter that influences 5th house in rule number 5 above, but it is rather Moon or Venus that are indicated here.

I would like to point out a problem with this approach. It does not consider a scenario where perfectly normal couple think about adopting a child even when they already have naturally born children. IMHO, it would be difficult to make a distinction between adopted children and naturally conceived children in such a case.

    Resepcted Nitin ji,

I request you to please have a look at my son’s chart.
His date of birth is: 8th january, 1992. Born in Chandigarh at 1.15 am (early morning of the 8th).
Somebody told me he has no luck in progeny/children’s house and that he will rather end up losing many of his children. Very upsetting stuff. Currently he himself is a child but it got me worried as one day he will be getting married. What remedies – pooja, stone etc can he try to help in this. Please suggest.

    dear nitinji,
I read the horoscope of your son dted 8th jan 1992 at 1:15 at chandigarh.
    following is the reading.
he has total six planets in 6th house including Rahu conjoined with the lord of 9th house, eleventh house,7th house, Rahu in 3rd house along with the lord of 9th i.e. mercury bestows great wealth, long life fearless charactor, loyal friends, clairovayance, will never have childless.trine with jupiter and the lord of fortune ie mercury along with mars (lord of seventh) and lord of 11th house where jupiter is already placed certainly shows he will have child after the age 28. According to me in 2020 there is great chances of progeny because The jupiter making reciprocal reception with Sun will have similar position at the age in 2020 . three personal lanets with three impersonal planets in third house make harmony of making neutral bad effect, and Rahu being stronger in this house will influence 5th house by its present placement i.e. sextile.( rahu in 3rd house of mercury gives great wealth, long life, feraless character, loyal freinds, claR0voyance, and the native will never be childless. Basically
y sagregation of planets in other house is necessary to split the stellium in third house. that will occure in 2020.by making good aspects with most of the planets. In such case we have to look at the favourable timings in 2020. This is not a chart of childless person.I hope Probaility of twins is expected.More research is needed.

    thanks
