For those who think that muhurta is just a good time you ask from a pandit to begin an new project, this book would be an eye opener and would tell you what muhurta is really all about. In our times of “chalta hai” attitude, a mockery has been made of the whole process.

A muhurta is not just about finding an auspicious to start on something new, it is also about finding time that would ward off malefic influences from the horoscopes of the person(s) involved. In Dr Raman’s words, “… muhurta is much more important. It gives valuable directions by following which the person will be enabled to remove, neutralize, counteract or overcome the evils indicated by the horoscope…”.

In this book, Dr. Raman covers not only the formulae of calculation of muhurta for various ceremonies, but also why it is required to balance or neutralize malefic influence.

Almost all of the sanskaras - pre and post natal ceremonies, marriage, ground breaking and griha pravesha, travel etc. are covered in the book. There is a chapter on importance of birth nakshatra and choosing a muhurta, on special adverse yogas that must be avoided, i.e. 21 great mahadoshas - panchanga shuddhi, surya sankramana, karthari dosha, to name a few. Ashtama Lagna dosha happens when lagna is eighth from janma lagna of bride and groom for marriage purposes. This is an example of how a muhurta works for an individual and not for another.

Following just this one book, students of astrology can learn to calculate a time for holding various events and also avoid any pitfalls in way of such calculations.
