Need Suggestions

Dear Blog Readers,
I need some suggestions from you regarding my website. As of now, the website is hosted on Geocities. I was thinking of moving it to a paid hosting service. The main motivation behind this is because I got some money out of the Google Adsense programme. Initially I was against it, but then I realized that this money is definitely paying some bills.
I am now planning to divert some of this money for a hosting service. I think it would be useful in the long run. Essentially, my requirements are:
  1. Service that can support JSP since I already have a java codebase in the form of an applet.
  2. No ads as they are an irritant.
  3. Front page extensions would be a good thing to have.
  4. Decent transfer limits.
  5. Domain name
  6. Support for few email addresses

I cannot think of anything else right now. I would appreciate of some of you could share your experiences and suggest a service provider. Or, should I just maintain status quo and continue with Geocities?

Learning Astrology

First of all, this post is long overdue. I have been on personal leave practically for the entire month :-) First, there was this looong Dussehra vacation and then parents visited us for Diwali. Anyway, things are back to normal now. I will not take long for the next post – I got hold of a compedium of planetary remedies. I am in the process of presenting the shlokas mentioned in there in Devnagri script and will soon publish it on my blog.
I was going through a website http://www.vedamu.org/Vedas/Jyotisa/Vedanga.asp and found that it has a very good collection of really old books on Astrology. Someone has done a wonderful job of scanning each and every page of books and posted them on this website. Most important for me, all these books are in Hindi… There are a few books in Telugu as well.
For people who wish to learn Astrology, I suggest them to go through two e-books -
  • Bhrugu Samhita, and
  • Jyotish Ratnakar

I have not gone through these books fully yet, as both of them are over 800 pages. But a cursory glance told me that there is a lot of promise.

For the people in Bangalore, there is going to be a book festival at Palace Grounds in Mekhri Circle from Nov 11th to 20th. Last year, there were some good stalls which had Astrology books. I am looking forward to visiting the book fair this year.
